The Grainger CD-ROM Catalog 394 requires an e-mail client in order to utilize the e-mail feature. - Errors occur if the CD-ROM is ejected while the application is running. Because the application data resides on the CD-ROM, system errors occur if the CD is removed while the application is executing. - Order History data may be imported more than once. Clicking "Import" on the "Order History" screen multiple times will import previous order history data more than once. - Items added to the Order Form from a "Retrieved List" will not display a customer part number or customer item notes, if the customer part number or customer item notes did not exist when the user first saved the list. In order to display the customer part numbers or customer item notes, this information must be entered before the List is saved. - Electing to register online via the Internet requires an Internet connection. Under certain conditions, if an Internet connection is not present this may cause an invalid page fault. - The application window fills the entire screen when the system resolution is set at 800x600. Background applications can be accessed using the "Alt-Tab" hot key. If the system resolution is greater than 800x600, the application will appear smaller than the entire screen. The application does not resize to fit the window. - Browse by Product Index and view Catalog pages may not function properly under some conditions. These features require Adobe Acrobat Reader 5.0 or above to display and function properly. Installation Issues: - Referencing the application data via an IP address causes errors when viewing Adobe Acrobat PDF files. When installing the application from a network, map via drive letters rather than an IP address. - The following unsupported platforms are known to cause errors: NT4 (with no service pack applied), and Windows 98 sans Service Pack 2 - Personal Firewalls inhibit Internet registration functionality. Please register via e-mail or FAX when utilizing a personal firewall. - On some versions of NT4.0 with SP6a applied, a user may experience a "Mozilla registration error" upon application startup. Rebooting the computer eliminates the conflict. - During the Adobe Acrobat installation, the setup program may warn that it detects a previously aborted uninstall. Continuing to install results in a successful installation. - Installing browser "plug-ins" on your system may cause conflicts with the Grainger CD-ROM Catalog. A known example is the "Common Name Toolbar" plug-in. - Upon application shutdown, a conflict may occur with Norton Antivirus (navshext.dll), leading to a KERNEL32.DLL exception. The detected Antivirus version on that machine is 8.07.17C. Installing New Software: - You should always follow the instructions provided with the new software. However, the importance of shutting down all running programs before you begin is usually not stressed enough. A new program may need to install information into a file that is shared by another program, but cannot do so if that file is already in use. We should point out that some systems may have programs that cause problems when shut down. Installation Complete - Always Reboot - After you have installed your new software, you will need to reboot (restart) your computer. Even those programs that say: "Installation complete, click here to begin." You should always reboot before you use the new program. Rebooting ensures that all the new information is properly stored before it is used. Using a program before this could lead to problems. Also, by rebooting first, those programs that start when your computer starts will be running, as they should for normal operation - Closing down all of your running programs before installing new software ensures that they will not interfere with the installation. Rebooting ensures that the new files are properly stored and also restarts those programs that you shut down. ---------------------- Installed Components ---------------------- Component Version --------------- ----------- OLEAUT32 2.4 MS Jet 4.0SP3 ComCat 4.7 MSXML 3.0SP2 DAO 3.6 MSVBVM60 6.0 MDAC 2.7 Adobe Reader 5.05 Mozilla 1.0 *The Grainger CD-ROM Catalog 394 requires the presence of Microsoft MDAC 2.7 & the Microsoft Jet Engine 4.0 components.
